Well, read on, dear reader; read on.

My Training Philosophies.

Science meets application:

  1. Strength trumps all.
  2. Muscles respond best to two stimuli: tension and chemical congestion.
  3. You must work hard.
  4. Recovery is where the magic happens.
  5. Strength training should be brief for best results.
  6. Form follows function.
  7. The method matters, not the tools.
  8. Use the big exercises and work the whole body.
  9. When in doubt, go slower, not faster.
  10. Change creates change.

What does that leave us? A challenging but safe, time-effective, and results-producing exercise program.

My Nutrition Philosophy.

Eating for optimal health and performance:

  1. Eat Meat, Leaves, and Berries. Nuts and seeds are okay, too.
  2. Avoid Grains, Starches, and Sweets.
  3. Drink water. Lots.
  4. Legumes are okay. Sort of.
  5. Listen to your body.
  6. Hormonal tone is key.
  7. Supplements you should consider:
    Fish oil & Protein powder
  8. Drink your post-workout cocktail.

The take-home message: If you do #1, 2, and 3 on this list, you're 99.71% there.

Why You Should Trust Me

Eugene Thong holds a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science from Rutgers University. While at Rutgers, Eugene was a student Teaching Assistant for Functional Human Anatomy Lab, helping to instruct undergraduate students to identify structures of the body using cadavers. During his senior year at Rutgers, he was a student intern in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Center of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where, under the supervision of a clinical exercise physiologist, Eugene designed and implemented exercise programs for post-cardiac event patients.

In July of 2000, Eugene became a staff physiologist at Cardio Fitness Center, a fitness club for executives in Midtown Manhattan. There, he supervised programs and performed fitness testing for several hundred members, as well as performing one-on-one personal training sessions with a client base of approximately 20 individuals. He obtained certification as a P.R.E.S. (Post-rehabilitation exercise specialist) in 2001, and attained his C.S.C.S. (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association in 2004.

Eugene started ETF Wellness Corp. in 2002 to answer the growing need for qualified exercise instruction in a field wrought with confusion, superstition, and bad science. He is currently also an instructor at Serious Strength, a private personal training studio located in Manhattan's Upper West Side.
